What is LeaveAThought?
LeaveAThought is a single-page public “thought wall.” One thought is displayed in the center at a time. New thoughts line up in a queue and take turns.
How long does a thought stay on screen?
Each thought gets a minimum amount of time on center stage (for example, ~20 seconds). If nobody else is in line, the current thought may stay up until a new thought arrives.
Can I post anonymously?
Yes. Free thoughts are designed to be posted without creating an account.
Can I edit or delete my thought?
No. “No take-backs” is part of the concept.
We may remove content that violates the rules (see Terms). This is not the same thing as a user deletion feature.
What is a “Spotlight”?
Spotlights are paid placements that display as small “placards” around the edges of the screen. Spotlights do not replace the center-stage queue; they’re a separate display area. They are for people who feel the need to be seen and help support the site.
How do Spotlights work?
- You pick a Spotlight duration/product.
- You submit the text you want to display.
- After payment is confirmed, your thought appears as a Spotlight for the purchased time.
Can I pay to skip the line for center stage?
Not currently (MVP). The center stage is the public queue. Spotlights are the “seen sooner” option.
Why am I asked to “prove I’m human” sometimes?
To reduce spam and bots, we may require a lightweight challenge when traffic is high or behavior looks automated.
Why can’t I post links?
Links attract spam and scams fast. We may allow links later after we’ve built stronger protections.
What content is not allowed?
We keep it fairly open, but we draw hard lines around content that breaks safety or legality. Examples include:
- Hate speech/slurs or dehumanizing attacks on protected groups
- Threats, incitement, or calls for violence
- Doxxing or personal info (phone numbers, addresses, emails)
- Explicit sexual content
- Anything illegal

What happens if my thought gets reported?
Users can report thoughts. If a thought is heavily reported, it may be hidden while we review it. If it violates the rules, it may be removed.
Do you offer refunds for Spotlights?
Generally, no refunds once a Spotlight has started, except where required by law.
Spotlights removed for Terms violations are not eligible for refunds.
