This Privacy Policy explains how LeaveAThought.com (“LeaveAThought,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the “Service”).

1) Information we collect

A) Information you provide

  • Thought content: The text you submit.
  • Optional contact info: If you email us or contact support, we collect the information you provide.
  • Account info (if enabled): If we offer optional sign-in (for example, Google sign-in), we may receive basic profile information such as name, email, and profile image depending on what you approve.

B) Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Pages viewed, actions taken (submit/report), timestamps.
  • Device and network data: IP address (or an anonymized/hashed form), browser type, device identifiers (or a derived “fingerprint”), and approximate location (city/region level).
  • Cookies/local storage: Used for basic functionality (rate-limiting, fraud prevention) and preferences.

C) Payments

If you purchase a Spotlight, payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy (our payment provider / merchant-of-record). We do not receive your full payment card details. We may receive limited purchase information such as transaction ID, amount, currency, product purchased, and payment status.

2) How we use information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide the Service (display thoughts, manage the queue and Spotlights)
  • Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse (rate limiting, bot detection, moderation)
  • Moderate content and enforce our Terms
  • Monitor and improve performance and reliability
  • Provide customer support and communicate with you
  • Comply with legal obligations

3) How we share information

We may share information with:

A) Service providers

We use third parties to run the Service. Examples may include:

  • Hosting and serverless infrastructure (e.g., Vercel)
  • Database and storage (e.g., Supabase)
  • Payments (Lemon Squeezy)
  • Security and abuse prevention tools
  • Analytics providers (if enabled)

These providers process information on our behalf, subject to their terms and policies.

B) Legal and safety

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security (for example, responding to lawful requests).

C) Public nature of content

Thoughts are designed to be public. Do not include personal information in your thought.

4) Data retention

  • Thoughts: Stored and displayed according to the Service’s design. We may remove content that violates Terms.
  • Logs and security signals: Retained as needed for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.
  • Payment records: Retained as required for accounting and legal purposes (primarily by our payment provider).

5) Your choices

  • Don’t share personal info: Avoid posting anything sensitive.
  • Cookies: You can restrict cookies through your browser settings, but parts of the Service may not function correctly.

6) Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us.

7) Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no system is 100% secure.

8) International users
