Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of LeaveAThought.com (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1) The Service

LeaveAThought displays user-submitted text (“Thoughts”) publicly. Thoughts rotate through a center-stage queue. Paid “Spotlights” display separately around the page.

2) Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

3) Your content and permissions

A) You are responsible for what you post

You represent that you have the right to post your Thought and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law.

B) License you grant us

You grant LeaveAThought a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your Thought for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.

C) No edits or user deletion

Thoughts cannot be edited or deleted by users. We may remove content that violates these Terms or for safety/legal reasons.

4) Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to post or distribute:

  • Hate speech, slurs, or content that targets people based on protected characteristics
  • Threats, harassment, or incitement to violence
  • Personal data (doxxing): phone numbers, addresses, emails, financial info, or other identifying info
  • Sexual content that is explicit or pornographic
  • Content involving minors in any sexual context
  • Illegal content, or instructions for wrongdoing
  • Malware, scams, phishing, or deceptive content
  • Unsolicited advertising or link spam (links may be blocked)

We may remove content and restrict access to the Service if you violate these rules.

5) Moderation and enforcement

We may:

  • Automatically filter or block content
  • Remove content at our discretion to enforce these Terms
  • Throttle, challenge, or block suspected bots or abusive traffic
  • Suspend or ban access for violations

6) Spotlights and payments

A) Purchases

Spotlights are purchased through our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy). Your purchase is subject to the provider’s checkout terms.

B) Activation and display

Spotlights become active after payment confirmation. We do not guarantee uninterrupted display if the Service is down or under maintenance, but we aim for high availability.

C) Refunds

Except where required by law:

  • No refunds once a Spotlight has started.
  • Spotlights removed for Terms violations are not eligible for refunds.

7) Intellectual property

The Service, its design, and its code are owned by LeaveAThought and its licensors. You may not copy or resell the Service or its content except as allowed by law.

8) Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that Thoughts are accurate, safe, or non-offensive. You use the Service at your own risk.

9) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LeaveAThought will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues. Our total liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to us (if any) in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

10) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LeaveAThought from claims arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

11) Changes to the Service or Terms

We may update the Service or these Terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

12) Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time for violations, security reasons, or legal compliance.

13) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where LeaveAThought is established, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
